Thomson Reuters Foundation is currently recruiting for a Technical Product Manager to join our Product and Technology team. Reporting to the Director of Product and Technology, this role will be instrumental to drive the techno-functionals of a new content-analysis application platform (SaaS). As a hands-on profile, this role will develop the application’s source code, is responsible for the day-to-day running, is the first line of call for technical user’s support and will look after development roadmap throughout product lifecycle.
The role will work alongside other department’s Directors in the Foundation, as well as external stakeholders and partners. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about running a new platform to defend media freedom and human rights, in association and partnering with best-in-class technology partner.
About the Role
As a Technical Product Manager at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will:
Be responsible for managing and customizing a greenfield Angular application, with ownership of multiple angles of the tool (development, service, deployment).
Be working on other integrations and modifications to existing products, including interfacing with other organizations and technologies.
Have experience of people-management.
Be comfortable with problem solving outside of programming – for example, diagnosing DNS/caching/CDN issues (although only at a basic/intermediate level, expertise is not expected).
Drive key development release notes, techno functional requirements gathering and workflow documentation
Enforce Information and Application cybersecurity protocols.
Enforce P&T processes and procedures.
Report of risks log and ways to minimize them.
Support Platform Users
Outline problems, opportunities and business processes improvements for the platform
About You
To be our Technical Product Manager, you will likely have:
Degree and/or Master’s in Computer Science or equivalent level of technical knowledge gained through an alternative qualification or experience. (software development/engineering, web development etc.)
Knowledge on Amazon Web Services (preferred), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (especially the Firebase SDK).
Ability to pick up new skills/frameworks quickly.
Experience with version control software, preferably Git.
Expertise with JavaScript, including frameworks like Angular (preferred) or React.
Familiarity with NodeJS.
Familiarity with implementing front-end frameworks with HTML/CSS.
Be comfortable working in a small team or alone, sharing responsibilities and communicating with non-technical users.
Good deadline management and reporting on risks log and ways to minimize them
Experience with digital projects dealing with any other CMS, Mobile Apps
Management experience in digital media including experience digital branding, technical role as digital business analyst and in applications development/operations teams
knowledge of website/mobile app building and delivery processes and systems, content delivery processes and content management systems
Experience in building relationships on business, corporate and cross divisional basis - experience of "outsourcing" environment e.g. working with third party tech vendors
Excellent communication and presentation skills for business requirements gathering
Experience in Jira, Service Now or other ticketing/service systems.
